Fred L. Ma, M.D., Ph.D.

President and CEO
Dr. Ma has over 25 years of medical experience in clinical medicine, as a neurosurgeon, and as an executive in pharmaceutical and medical device companies. Dr. Ma is a results-oriented leader with a record of success in business growth. He has built an effective team at Medical Quality International that includes persons experienced in clinical, medical, regulatory, quality assurance and business development, for drugs, medical devices and biomedical product development.

In addition to his strong technical and team building skills, Dr. Ma has broad practical experience in medical and regulatory affairs and guidelines of organizations and industries in the United States, Europe and Pacific Rim countries, including Japan, China, Taiwan and Singapore. His experience extends to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Conference on Harmonization (ICH), European Medicines Agency (EMEA), Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), and the State Food and Drug Administration of China (SFDA). As a former executive for Johnson and Johnson, Cell Pathways and Gliatech, Dr. Ma has led in the successful development and commercialization of over 20 new drugs and medical devices. Dr. Ma earned his M.D. degree from Capital University of Medical Sciences, Beijing, D.M.Sc. (Doctorate of Medical Sciences (equivalent to combined M.D. and Ph.D. degrees)) from Tokyo University, Japan, and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University, US.

Carol Cronin Nash, RPh., M.S.

Director, Clinical and Medical Affairs
Ms. Nash has over 30 years experience in the conduct and oversight of clinical research. The early part of her career was spent in academic centers conducting clinical trials - in supportive care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and as Associate Director of Pharmacy at Massachusetts General Hospital. She joined the pharmaceutical industry at Purdue Pharma, and moved into biotechnology as Director of Clinical Research in the Biotherapeutics Division of the Genzyme Corporation. Prior to joining MQI, Ms. Nash spent 12 years at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the Department of Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplantation as a project manager and Director of Protocol Development. Ms. Nash received her BS in Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and her MS in Pharmacology from Northeastern University.  

Sally Lang, Ph.D.

Associate Director, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance
Dr. Lang has over 20 years experience with emphasis on regulatory affairs, quality assurance and compliance for regulated medical devices and pharmaceuticals. She is also an experienced medical writer for regulatory submissions and scientific publications. She participated in successful product developments and commercialization at Gliatech. Dr. Lang obtained a B.S. and M.S. in Physical Therapy at Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Biology/Physiology from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine/Kent State University.

Jin Z. Ma, R.N., B.A.

Associate Director, Human Resources and Operations
Ms. Ma has over 20 years of experience in hospital medical care, pharmaceutical research and development, and sales and marketing of pharmaceutical products. She has been Medical Quality International’s Manager of Operations and now oversees Human Resources as well. Ms. Ma worked as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit/ Oncology Department and in Post-Operation Recovery in China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing, China, and at St. Mary’s Hospital Center in Pennsylvania.

Ms. Ma was the Director of Pharmaceutical Product Exporting at SinoPharm, the largest pharmaceutical company in China in the 1980’s, and a Research Scientist in the R&D Department at Conrex Pharmaceuticals Inc. in the U.S. Ms. Ma is a licensed R.N. in China and the U.S.. She has a B.A. in English from the United University in Beijing.
